SMART technologies are on the rise. I remember a month back when the Apple watch first came out. My initial reactions were to head down to the nearest apple store and purchase one. However, common sense kicked in. Yes – I do still want one. But, then again I know the price of an Apple watch is 1/5th of a cheaper modelled Rolex. Plus I think people would rather appreciate you’re wearing a Rolex than a smartwatch. If you are looking for a decent watch in the mid-price range, check out my GC watch review. Anyway, what of smart technologies:

The Takeover: How ‘SMART’ Technology Will Rule The World
The evolution of the technology around us that we utilise on a daily basis is quite astounding and as soon as a new innovation comes to light, it manages to influence developers to take it to that next level. We’re in the age of ‘smart’ technology. Everyday items that can help benefit us, save us time, and even provide us with a wider reaching cavalcade of entertainment for us to enjoy. Let’s take a look at just some of the great new appliances and electronics that are already well on their way to consuming our home, work and social lives.
2015 is the year of the smartwatch. They are one of the most exciting new wearable technologies to come to fruition in recent times and this year mostly thanks to the launch of the new Apple Watch they have hit a market high.
As a whole, smartwatch technology is still greatly in its infancy and there is much to do before they can surely evolve into a must-have device. As a friend of mine said, smartwatches are simply Casio watches but with better functionality. It’s the biggest ‘smart’-based product release since the smartphone and it will result in developers creating a huge number of platform compatible apps and games, like the Royal Vegas smartwatch casino, Runeblade and Tetris for Gear 2 (just a few random apps I’ve seen mentioned on various blogs). More importantly these could be newly conceived games that are created specifically around the watch and which once more expand the gaming market in to a whole new area.
I still think there is a long way to go for smartwatches, but if you’re jumping on the bandwagon you might like these 10 apple watch games.
Smart TV’s are a great way in which to get connected without having to own any other companion add-ons. They can piggy-back straight off of your home Wi-Fi and allow you to access a whole range of popular apps and streaming services such as BBC iPlayer, Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime. Some Smart TV’s give you the opportunity to connect to various social networks and let you browse the web simply by using your remote control. These new smart televisions can also give you the ability to directly beam content from your phone or tablet onto the TV itself.
However, as it stands I personally do not believe upgrading to a smart TV is needed. Give it a few years and I’m sure that any media outlet will have a fully functioning app for smart TVs.
SMART HOME APPLIANCES
Now that smartphones, tablets and now even smartwatches have become more commonplace in our lives even they are now being utilised to manipulate and control household items around us. There are plenty of easy to install home-based products that you can setup around your home to add a little style and variety to your surroundings. The Philips Hue lighting kit allows you to take control of light bulbs around your home and gives you the opportunity to change mood lighting, settings and all sorts of other illuminating options. There are a number of smart security systems that you can implement into your homestead in minutes that are a fraction of the cost of more typical home security options.
I’m sure that within a few years smart technologies will govern the household, as well as shape our personal lives. However, as it stands I’m content with my smartphone and when the time is right I will update the various other electronics I own.
