A few years back I remember hearing about a kid whom had invented an app for home security. I’m not sure where he is now, but considering he was one of the first to invent such a thing props to him. Technology is continuously improving, so what of home security? Will robbers have to learn programming languages to hack our homes?
With wireless connectivity and sophisticated smartphone tech evolving at such a rapid rate we knew it wouldn’t be too long before we would see these technologies utilised for innovative new ideas and concepts that would enter our very homes. Whether it has been taking control of your lighting or your heating systems there has been plenty of unique products introduced in to the marketplace that supposedly assist everyday living in and around your home.
One of the most important factors to consider when it comes to our happiness and well-being within our home is safety and security. We need to feel safe in our homes and we need to protect everything that we keep within it. Thankfully ever changing technology has now allowed companies to create and conceive exciting new security measures that can be swiftly implemented in to our homes often effortlessly and more importantly for a fraction of the cost of more traditional security measures.
We want our homes to be secure but often it’s simply not a viable option because it literally becomes a question of money. Some of us simply cannot afford to setup and install extensive and complex security systems in our home to protect our families, and this is why wireless technology in particular has helped add flexibility and cost-effective solutions to the market.
Wireless sensors can now be placed around your home without having to drill in to walls or connect to a central hub. These sensors working in conjunction with cameras and a compatible app on your smartphone can be set to pick up motion in your home and then automatically take live images or video recordings that can then be sent directly to your smartphone. You can now even login in from wherever you are in the world from a PC, smartphone or tablet and using video monitoring can view live images from inside your home in real-time if you are ever away and want to keep an eye on your property. You can even activate and deactivate your security system remotely which is particularly useful if you had to rush out and you think you forgot to lock up.
Electric Portcullis sliding gates can also help improve home security. They are strong, sturdy and difficult to force open. Any typically vulnerable part of a standard hinged gate will be more secure with an electronic sliding gate helping to keep prying eyes out of your property. If you own an estate, located on the outskirts of London be sure to invest in these bad boys.
