Are you planning on spoiling your mother, and still haven’t made up your mind up on what the most suitable Mother’s day gift or flowers are yet? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Mother’s day is another day to spoil your Mother rotten with awesome gifts and presents. With so many mothers’ day gift ideas out there you’re sure not to run out of inspiration. However, don’t get me wrong they’re extremely repetitive. Why does affection have to be limited to flowers, chocolates, cooking a meal or a bottle of vintage wine? It doesn’t.
If you’re part of the blogosphere, you’ll have come across mother’s day inspiration posts. I’m sure that they’re of use. But, I’m also sure these uncommon and unusual mother’s day gift ideas will be useful.
5 Unusual Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
1. Take her on an adventure
It doesn’t need to be a huge one; it could a trip to the Snow dome at Hemel Hempstead, or for the adventurous – sky diving for two. Even if she doesn’t enjoy skiing, she can still watch you hit the boxes and jumps from the upstairs bar.
2. Buy her something you would like
My mother’s blender is pretty crap. Whenever I’m over and in need of a smoothie to start the day I always feel disappointed. As such this year I shall be investing in a better one, not just for me but also for her (a pretty unusual but cool mother’s day gift if you ask me).
3. Some quirky art
The paintings which hang in my mother’s house aren’t great. She could do with some upgrades; I know she will be ecstatic at the thought of having new artwork. However, I’m not too sure what her impressions will be of the above painting/print of D double E.
4. A ton of booze
Booze is handy, stock up now whilst you can by ordering a ton of booze. Your mother probably isn’t going to finish off that awesome bottle of rum. So order something you will enjoy drinking, especially at those tiresome family dinner parties.
5. A gaming console
Yes this is a pretty strange idea unless your mother loves gaming. Tell her it’s a way for her to watch Netflix and 4od, however secretly the ulterior motive is for you to have a state of the art console available at your childhood house.
It came to my attention that these commercialised days are becoming slightly repetitive – as in, they’ve become extremely similar. When you think of your loved ones you automatically think of providing them with something to show your appreciation. This usually entails a bottle of wine, some sort of chocolates and maybe even cooking a meal from scratch.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sticking to a bunch of flowers, champagne and chocolates. I’ll probably be running into the Tesco located in Maida Vale and grabbing a few of these mother’s day presents. Ideally these unusual mother’s day gifts should provide you with some food for thought.
